South Howser Tower Descent

As discussed in the trip report, there is a new bolted descent off of S. Howser Tower. The descent Route was installed apprx 8/17/2008. As far as I could tell a 70m single, or two 50m ropes were required.

Here is the beta:

1) Scramble down and right about 20 feet W. of summit block to find bolted anchor above vertical cube (28m rappel)

2) A very short rappell over low angled terrain along the ridge crest. (15-20m)

3) Rappel NW along ridge 30 m. Do not rappel on to N. Face

4) Rappel steep W facing wall (a left facing corner) to station on climbers left (25m)

5) Continue down the steep wall to large ledge (35m)

6) Rappel low angle ledge to gully (32m)

7) Rappel steep NE facing buttress staying climbers right of steep gully (32 m)

8-9) Stay on buttress crest and continue rappeling until over Bergshrund.
